[EU][ERASMUS+] Erasmus+ 2026 oproep tot projectvoorstellen voor onderwijssamenwerking gelanceerd | Erasmus+ 2026 call for proposals on cooperation in education launched

Recent publiceerde de Europese Commissie de nieuwe oproep tot projectvoorstellen voor het jaar 2026 in het kader van het Erasmus+ programma (2021-27). 

Waarom deelnemen aan een Erasmus+ project?

Erasmus+ is het programma van de Europese Unie voor onderwijs, opleiding, jeugd en sport. Het programma focust op inclusie, digitalisering, duurzaamheid en burgerschap in alle onderwijssectoren. Deze beleidsprioriteiten zien zich weerspiegeld in de projectoproepen.

Onderwijsprojecten in transnationale context, zoals deze gefinancierd door het Erasmus+ programma, dragen bij tot innovatie in het onderwijs en tot de ontwikkeling van future-proof curricula. Verder bieden de projecten mogelijkheden om partnerschappen en netwerken te versterken, alsook om de maatschappelijke impact van onderzoek te vergroten.

Een waaier aan projectmogelijkheden

Voor de volledige Erasmus+-programmaperiode 2021-27 is €26,2 miljard voorzien. In deze zesde oproepronde wordt daaruit bijna €4 miljard voor onderwijs en training voorzien. Naast de klassieke Kernactie 1 (de fysieke uitwisseling van studenten en personeel, Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), en Virtual Exchanges), zijn de volgende projectmogelijkheden binnen Kernacties 2 en 3 en Jean Monnet het meest relevant met het oog op een deelname vanuit het hoger onderwijs. Hun focus varieert van kleinschalig tot grootschalig, binnen of buiten Europa, thematisch of breder.

De verschillende opportuniteiten worden hier opgelijst met hun respectievelijke deadlines. Wie al enigszins vertrouwd was met het programma, zal de gekende projectmogelijkheden snel terugvinden. Bemerk evenwel dat een aantal deadlines anders liggen dan vorig jaar:

• Jean Monnet Action and Networks – 03/02/2026 (bijdragen aan kennis rond EU beleid en integratie)
• Capacity Building in Higher Education – 10/02/2026 (samenwerking met derde landen - Opgelet: Een organisatie mag dit jaar niet meer dan twee projectvoorstellen indienen als coördinator onder deze oproep. Er is echter geen limiet op het aantal aanvragen waarin een organisatie deelneemt als partner, zie verder).
• Erasmus Mundus Action – 12/02/2026 (bestaat uit 1/ Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters voor het inrichten van een internationale gezamenlijke opleiding, of 2/ Erasmus Mundus Design Measures voor het ontwikkelen van een Erasmus Mundus gezamenlijke masteropleiding)
• Cooperation Partnerships in the fields of (higher) education, training, youth and sport – 05/03/2026 (gericht op ontwikkeling en implementatie van innovatieve (onderwijs)praktijken)
• Alliances for Innovation – 10/03/2026 (onderwijsinnovatieprojecten die samenwerking met de industrie beogen)
• Centres of Vocational Excellence – 03/09/2026 (internationale samenwerkingsnetwerken ter ondersteuning van hervormingen in de sector beroepsonderwijs en -opleiding)
• European Policy Experimentation – indieningsdeadlines te bevestigen (ondersteuning van Europese beleidsontwikkeling rond onderwerpen als digitalisering van en AI in het onderwijs, microcredentials, STEM en vaardighden, i.s.m. beleidsmakers)

Belangrijke nota bij de CBHE-call 2026

1. Nieuwe regel:
   Een organisatie mag niet meer dan twee projectvoorstellen indienen als coördinator onder deze oproep. Er is echter geen limiet op het aantal aanvragen waarin een organisatie deelneemt als partner. Om de opvolging van projectindieningen en de naleving van deze regel te realiseren, wordt aan kandidaat-promotoren nadrukkelijk gevraagd om elk voorstel waarin UGent coördinator of partner is tegen donderdag 8 januari 2026 te melden via eu-educationprojects@ugent.be.
2. Nieuwe prioriteiten in call 2026:
   1. Binnen Strand 2 – Regio 3 (Zuid-Mediterrane gebied) krijgen projecten die gericht zijn op het ontwikkelen van innovatieve, gezamenlijke studieprogramma’s in de Euro-Mediterrane regio prioriteit.
   2. Binnen Strand 3 gaat de prioriteit naar voorstellen die een EU-Moldavië masterprogramma in Europese Zaken opzetten,  gebaseerd op samenwerking tussen Moldavische en andere Europese universiteiten.

The European Commission recently published the new call for project proposals for the year 2026 within the framework of the Erasmus + programme (2021-27).

Why participate in an Erasmus+ project?

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s programme for education, training, youth and sport. The Erasmus+ programme focuses on inclusion, digitization, sustainability and citizenship in all education sectors. These policy priorities are reflected in the project calls.

Education projects in a transnational context, such as those funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, have the potential to contribute to innovation in education and to the development of future-proof curricula. Projects further integrate Ghent University and its academics in international networks, and increase the societal value and impact of their research.

A range of project opportunities

€ 26.2 billion is planned for the entire Erasmus+ programme period 2021-27. In this sixth call, almost €4 billion is provided for education and training. In addition to the classic Key Action 1 (the physical exchange of students and staff, Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), and Virtual Exchanges), the following project opportunities within Key Actions 2 and 3 and Jean Monnet are the most relevant in view of participation from higher education. Their focus ranges from small-scale to large scale, within or outside of Europe, thematic or broader.

The opportunities are listed below with their respective deadlines. Those who are already familiar with the programme will quickly find their way among the different Actions. Please note however that a number of deadlines have been changed compared to previous years:

• Jean Monnet Action and Networks – 03/02/2026 (contribute to knowledge about EU policy and integration)
• Capacity Building in Higher Education – 10/02/2026 (cooperation with third countries - Please note: An organisation may not submit more than two project proposals as a coordinator under this call. There is however no limit on the number of applications in which an organisation participates as a partner, see further.)
• Erasmus Mundus Action – 12/02/2026 (comprising 1/Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters: to establish an international joint programme, 2/ Erasmus Mundus Design Measure: to develop an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master programme)
• Cooperation partnerships in the fields of (higher) education, training, youth and sport – 05/03/2026 (aimed at developing and implementing innovative (education) practices)
• Alliances for Innovation – 10/03/2026 (innovation projects in education, in cooperation with industry)
• Centres of Vocational Excellence – 03/09/2026 (international collaborative networks in support of reforms in the VET sector)
• European Policy Experimentation – submission deadline to be confirmed (support to European policy development on topics such as digitalisation and use of AI in education, microcredentials, STEM and skills, in cooperation with policy makers)

Important note for the 2026 CBHE call

1. New rule:
   An organisation may not submit more than two project proposals as a coordinator under this call. There is however no limit on the number of applications in which an organisation participates as a partner. To allow for the tracking of planned submissions and ensure compliance with this rule, candidate-promotors are requested to notify eu-educationprojects@ugent.be by 8 January 2026 of any proposal where UGent acts as coordinator or partner.
2. New priorities in call 2026:
   1. Under Strand 2 – region 3 South Mediterranean, priority will be given to the development of innovative joint study programmes in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
   2. Under Strand 3 priority is given to proposals aimed at establishing a flagship EU-Moldova Master’s programme in European Affairs, based on cooperation between Moldovan and other European universities.
