Scholarly article: where to find it?
Search the library catalogue
Via lib.ugent.be, you can search directly through millions of scientific articles.
The online library catalogue searches in “Everything” by default, which is indicated left of the search bar.

'Everything' means that you're searching, besides the physical collection, the e-resources (articles, e-books, chapters, etc.) from various scientific databases and publishers.
To only find scientific articles, you can filter on 'articles' in the facet 'type'. You can also easily indicate at the top that you only want to see articles that are available online.

When you search in “everything”, you will initially only get results with UGent access: you can click directly through to the online version or you will see a request button.
Read here how you can find results from other libraries via the catalogue.
Search a bibliographic database
You can also find qualitative scholarly articles by searching a bibliographic database. There are multidisciplinary databases (e.g. Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science) as well as discipline-specific databases (e.g. PubMed for health sciences).
You can find a list of databases via the library catalogue. When you go to a database via the catalogue, you will automatically be asked to log in with your UGent account, after which you will have UGent access.
If you do not want to go through the library catalogue every time you want UGent access, it is worth installing the Lean Library extension.
You can always consult the full text of articles in the electronic journals to which UGent subscribes. There is usually an [Access @)UGent button or Full text button in the database. For example, in Web of Science:

If there's no UGent or Full Text button, look up the article in Google Scholar to see if you can find an online full text. For best results, install the Lean Library extension.
Still no results? Search for the title of the journal in which the article is published in the library catalogue to check if the library has the right volume in it's physical collection. It's possible to request a scan of articles only available in printed journals in the UGent collection.
If you can't find the publication you are looking for in one of the UGent libraries, you can request it from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
